| Your story | Coming down Sani pass on a righthand bend, the rear of my Fortuner “jumped” to the left without any warning. Fortunately I was driving slowly as we were enjoying the view on the way down or I would have lost control of the vehicle going through that bend. At the time I did not make sense of it but now it all adds up = BUMPSTEER = GATSWAAI. Toyota blames the tyres. What happens when I have to replace tyres on my Fortuner and I can’t get the spedified Grabbers and decide to replace the tyres with, say, Dunlop tyres? Do I then use the vehicle with good, new tyres and have an accident??? Is there any other vehicle in the world that must have a specific make of modified tyre fitted in an attempt to make it safe? NO!!! Toyota is trying to doctor the symptoms but not the cause. All I expect from Toyota SA is replacement tyres AND FITMENT of PROPER SHOCKS!!! |

Hi Elkin
Thanks for your post. Do you not find it amazing how Toyota keep telling us there is no problem, when more and more people tell these kind of stories?
I was wondering if you ever took this up with Toyota, and what was their response?

I rolled my Fortuner approx. a year ago on a dirt road when the tail broke loose at a corrugated section. Was travelling at about 90km/hour; this after a Isuzu overtook me and continued over the same stretch of road. Travelled the same road before in Colt Rodeo @ approximately 110km/hour without any incident.
Toyota can defend as much as they want to, but this vehicle is DANGEROUS on gravel roads; especially if you do not reduce tyre pressure. On tar roads it is an absolute pleasure to drive
