| Your story | I travel quite a lot of dust road in general and most weekends to get to a holiday house. In the first two weeks of owning my Fortuna i nearly rolled it with my entire family in the car on a dust road through the Karoo. At first i thought the car had faulty shocks and returned to a dealer who could not find any problem.I have now fitted the new Toyota supplied tyres and there is some improvement but still not satisfactory even by compact sedan standards and would like Toyota to supply suitable replacement shocks to bring the car in line with what you would expect from an 4×4 SUV. It would also be good if they could specify the correct shock even if they won’t replace at their cost as the saftey of my family is not worth the cost of four new shocks! |

I own a 2007 Fortuner since new and must admit that not once did I experience any type of “fishtailing” on gravel roads.
All I have experienced is the go anywhere ability of the Vehicle!

Thanks Michael
Nice to hear from someone who’s actually happy with his car. I know there are many thousands of you, it seems to be a subset of owners who are unhappy.

Pop into your nearest Toyota dealer. The new spec toyota fortuna has all those kinks sorted out. But I must warn you they have fitted a lot more than upgraded suspension to sort out that problem….

Hi Andy
You will probably understand that I probably won’t be buying another Toyota Fortuner soon…

Hi. I have currrently ordered the new spec Toyota Fortuna. They have had many complaints about that exact problem and have now fitted anti-skid control and many other features like DBA, EBS, 17inch tyres, refind suspention and so on. They say that the new spec modal has been tested and all has now been sorted out.

Andy,
It sounds like the new car is a lot safer and handles great. This unfortunately doesn’t help the owners of “old” Fortuners who feel they are sitting with a unsafe product.
